Caring for Survivors through counseling is essential to help them heal from their traumatic loss. The availability of appropriate and affordable mental health resources is crucial and currently lacking. This arm of the foundation refers survivors to an established network of counselors within the C.O.P.S.S. network that are committed to caring for Law Enforcement Suicide Survivors regardless of their ability to pay.  Please contact us if you are a mental health professional who would like to be considered for our network or if you are in need of our Care services.

The goal of this arm of the foundation is to reduce the number of law enforcement suicides through increased PTSD awareness and suicide prevention training. Currently very few agencies have training programs in place due to budgetary restrictions and administrations failure to recognize the severity of the problem. Last year, the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) took a huge step forward by recognizing the crisis of Law Enforcement Suicide. They outlined a comprehensive plan that shines a spotlight on the problem and addresses the need for increased Suicide Prevention Training. C.O.P.S.S. is encouraged by this shift and committed to providing PTSD awareness and Suicide Prevention Training for any agency that is interested.  Please contact us if your agency is interested in training services.

Support

It is the aim of this arm of the foundation to support the surviving family in the tragic event of a suicide. The trauma of being a Suicide Survivor elicits a wide fluctuation in emotions within the Survivor. These emotions may be difficult to process and understand but they are real! The importance of validation of feelings by someone who understands your pain can not be understated. Support Angels are dedicated,
compassionate Survivors who are available to help with routine questions, provide emotional support and most importantly LISTEN! Our Support Angels become the portal to the community of Survivors where all will find acceptance.  Please contact us if you are interested in joining our team of Support ´╗┐Angels or would like to make us aware of a surviving family in need of support.
